I remember being a kid and thinking that 40 was old. Now I’m 40 and let me tell you, 40 is NOT OLD! My mom is turning 70 this week! I hope I’m as healthy and happy as she is, when I hit 70. I’ve learned a lot from watching my mom. Some things I didn’t learn until I became a mom myself.
If you know my mom at all you know she loves pink, loves sparkles and she even calls herself a “Diva”! Mom is always dressed perfectly and has all the accessories to go with her outfit. She has amazing style and knows what looks good on her. No matter how bad she felt, she always looked great!
As a kid, I learned about etiquette and how important it is. My sister and I, to this day, get quite irritated when people don’t use proper etiquette. I learned that if someone invites you to their home you offer to bring something, or you bring a gift, and most importantly, you offer to help in the kitchen. I’ve learned that Thank You notes are important and in these days, they are cherished by the receiver because they are so often not written anymore.
I’ve learned that “the world” can knock you to your knees, and while your on your knees you should pray, stand back up, dust yourself off and keep moving forward. Life can be heart wrenching, gut punching, and downright SUCKS. (Mom would never say “sucks” though, because to her it is a curse word.) Those are the times that you see your true friends and when your family pulls together.
Mom has taught me that family comes first! Family=when times get tough, the family works together and life isn’t so tough anymore. When you have faith in God, and faith in your family what can stop you!?
It wasn’t until I became a mom that I hear my mom’s words coming out of my mouth to my own girls. Things, that as a kid, I would think “she’s just a worrier”. Now I realize she was just trying to protect me. The thing that stands out most is her use of the phrase, “I know.” It means she knows, because she went through it, and she can totally relate! Those two simple words are more comforting than anything else she could say.
Mom turns 70. 70 years loved by all who have known her. With God, with family and the people that love you…That’s how you do life!

Between her two sons in law! With these 2 by her side, she has nothing to fear!

That was so beautiful about your mom. You are so lucky to have her. She is a beautiful person
