How in the world is my baby 16?! From the moment I first saw you, you were smiling. You were the happiest baby I’ve ever met. Giggly, loving the entertainment from your 1 year old big sister and Max the dog.
I have learned so much about life and people from watching you and how you interact with them.
You are a “Force of Nature”, when you want to be. Nothing can stop you when you get something in your head. You can be unstoppable and unchallengeable sometimes. I think that plays into your stubbornness too. However, you can be such a homebody. I love how you enjoy the warmth and simple pleasures of being at home. I love that you feel that way about being home. You feel safe and comfortable.
You are such an Optimist. I am not. You can see everything from all sides, which makes you a great peacemaker. You are encouraging, comforting, affirming and supportive of others. You hate conflict. Sometimes I worry that you can’t see your own needs. You would rather give up your needs and wants to keep the peace.
I’ve learned that decision making can be hard for you. When you are given too many options it’s just easier for you to let others make that decision. You would rather others get what they want than for you to make the “wrong” decision. You need to know that your opinion matters. We love you and we want you to express your desires. When you can’t trust yourself to make the “right decision” pray about it. The best part is you don’t have to have all the answers. The Lord has it figured out.
I have learned you “get” people and you see them and you make them feel wanted, needed and loved. You have the uncanny ability to see others but ever better, you can comfort them during that time.
I need you to know that Your presence matters. I know sometimes you may feel unseen and you want to be seen and noticed. You matter! Christ came to this earth, lived, suffered, went through physical pain, and died for YOU! He did that because you MATTER!
I want you to know that your voice and presence matter to God, others and the world and ME. You tend to give of yourself all the time and I want you to take the time to know what YOU want and speak up for yourself. God has given you these talents and gifts to use to help others, just remember that you matter too!
My Sassy S, if I could give you anything in this world, it would be eyes to see yourself as I see you, and better yet, how the Lord sees you. God has created you to have a significant impact on others. Use it!
Be grateful for who you are. Be you, unapologetically you!
Recognize the people who are happy when you are happy, and sad when you are sad. Recognize the difference between people who “find time” and those who “make time” for you. They are true friends. Be with those who bring out the best in you, the real you.
Follow the Lord’s direction and He will keep you on track.
I am your biggest fan and I’m always your back up. I thank the Lord for you daily, and I’m honored that I get to be your mom.
Happy 16th birthday!
